The small town is situated in the widest point of the Lake and it is almost completely surrounded by medieval walls and has a particular atmosphere. The historic old town centre can be reached via gates. During the Venetian Empire, Lazise was an important trading place. Today you can admire alongside modern yachts in the harbour right in the middle of town. The Lazise territory includes the coastal area of the lakeside and a vast internal area made up of morainic hills that gently slope towards the lake, among olive grooves and vineyards dotted with rows of cypresses.

Piazza di Lazise

There is a wide selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. In the charmingly narrow lanes many shops as delicatessens, art galleries, shoe shops, jewellers and ice-cream parlours can be found. The area permits one not only to practice the traditional lake sports, but also to take leisurely walks, to make excursions by bicycle and on horseback along panoramic paths with gentle slopes. The olive tree, cultivated on crags and side terraces, dominates the view of the hinterland of the coastal area of the lakeside. Olive trees and vineyards are intensively cultivated in the surrounding lands where many appreciated wine and oil farms are located.

Lazise is primarily a town dedicated to tourism, with a wonderfully attractive harbour area and piazza, both featuring a plethora of restaurants, pizzerias and bars. Shopping is good at Lazise too with many clothing, shoes and specialist stores often selling good quality products and designer labels as well as some rather unique and unusual stores selling everything from candles to African art. There are a number of general stores too, plus some excellent wine shops. You can rent a boat at the harbour or take a ferry to another town around the Lake, but there is plenty to see and explore at Lazise. It is also just a short drive or bus ride to the Theme Parks. There are all sorts of sporting activities around the Lake from tennis to football, to inevitable watersports as well as some excellent golf courses.
